Fall Weather, Hunting, and Chili.....

Since my last post, we have been busy as a family, and have been enjoying this Fall that came to us practically overnight. The Fall weather came fast, and we have been blessed with some really amazing days. Yes, of course, there has been rain and wind as well.....but, there have also been plenty of beautiful days filled with sunshine and cooler temperatures, along with changing colors of foliage that just make everything so beautiful. Fo me, getting out and riding my bike during this time of year is a real treat...cooler temps, the colors, the smell of people burning leaves and burn piles, seeing the farmers all fast at harvest..... it is awesome, and I love it. :-)

We took a little trip over to Republic, WA for deer hunting for a week recently. We had a most wonderful time...the camping part was excellent! The weather was about perfect! The deer hunting was NOT successful. We worked hard for a full five days, and only saw about 15 does total. This was Evan's very first time as a hunter, and so he was a bit bummed. I didn't expext that he would get to necessarily shoot his first deer on his very first hutning trip, but I sure did expect that he would have at least had the opportunity to see a bunch of deer, and at least one or two bucks. It just didn't happen. As I said, the camping part of the trip was great, and all of us had a really great time.

Now that we are back home again, we are frantically busy this week with trying to clean out and celan up and organize the shop, so we can get set up for our 4th annual LBF chili cook-off and pumpkin carving contest!!! The shop is an absolute disaster area right now, and I figure these next couple of days are going to take all I have got to get it in shape and ready for Friday night.

In addition to that, I have to find time to get to the store for shopping, and time to make my award winning chili for the contest!!! :-)

So, I am finishing up my shift here at work this morning, and then heading home to get started on cleaning the shop.

Friday night...... CHILI, FRIENDS, PUMPKINS!!! :-)

The lonely blog...

Yes, it is sad and true.... this blog is very, very, very lonely. There were once good things happening here, but it has been so long ago now, it is hard to remember. For anyone who still checks in here now and again, so very sorry for the lack of material!!!

Remember, though.... you can always head on over to "the life and times of Fireguy" blog, where new posts occur by way of Gordon at least on a monthly basis, and sometimes more frequently! :-)

For now, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Chrstmas, and Happy New Year... perhaps we will pick up again in 2011?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

While the Wife's Away.....

As you all can see, the Little Bearfoot Farm wife has been away for quite some time now. It doesn't appear that she will be here anytime too soon. So, for you all to still be able to keep up with goings on of Little Bearfoot Farm and the family, please follow the following link to Gordon' blog, which is current and up to date!

Instead of returning here regulary in hopes that there will be something new posted for your reading pleasure, you can instead follow Gordon's blog :-)

Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully this will allow you all to keep up regularly with what is happening in our lives and on our farm!!! :-)

Thank You

Hi everyone,

I just want to take a moment and personally thank each and every one of you who reads my blog. I know I don't post daily, or even weekly, but I am so blessed to have my faithful friends who continue to check on me and patiently wait for me to get something exciting posted. Ok, maybe not "exciting", but obviously worth writing about. I am thankful for all of you and you have each blessed my life in one way or another.

So, THANK YOU!!!

New background

Hi Everyone,

It just seems that time passes so quickly and I don't spend as much time updating my blog as I should. I finally decided to change my background, so here I am. Life has been busy around the farm, starting to get ready for Spring. We have been spending a lot of time at the gym working out almost every day. It is a long, painful process, but I hold out hope that one of these days I will actually start to see some progress. I am feeling better and working out longer and harder, but have only dropped 22 pounds in three months time. I can't wait until I notice a difference in my body size, not just my workout routine!!! I know it will come. I just have to be patient and persistant. If anyone wants to join me, I am usually at the club between 8:30 and 9:00am Monday thru Friday. Hope to see some of you there. Let's sweat together!!!!!

Anyways, I really hope to spend more time updating, but who knows. Life is busy, right?

Until next time.....take care!!!

Pork?....Anyone?.....

If you are in the need for pork, we have an abundance! We have about 5 pigs worth of meat in our freezer. Lots of roasts, steaks, chops, ham steaks, boneless ribs, sausage and bacon. Let me know if you would like a price quote on any of the above. It is farm fresh, naturally raised, and tastier than you can imagine. We eat pork all the time, but it will take us years to get through all that we have.

Come on, can't you just smell it?.....Pork roast in the crock-pot, with potatoes, carrots, celery, onion simmering next to it?....

Oh boy, I better go get a roast and put it in the crock-pot. Guess what we are having for dinner tonight?

Oops-ya got me, Tarah!!!

So, the other night the kid's wanted pizza. We decided on Westside in Lynden. I offered to go get it while Gordon got the kids ready for the evening of pizza and movie watching. As I was approaching the stop light at Front and the Guide, I looked over by Westside pizza at the Chevron station, saw my friend Tarah standing outside her Ford Explorer playing with her beautiful long black hair while waiting for her tank to fill up. Her back was to me so I thought I would scare her by racing up behind her to say hi. I pulled in, squealed into the space behind her ready to honk my horn. She turned around with a "deer in the headlights" look on her face and I realized at that time it wasn't her. I scared the pee out of some innocent gal just because I thought it was Tarah. I was extremely embarrassed. I rolled down my window, told her I was sorry and that I thought she was someone else, then told her to have a great evening. Ugh!!! I hate it when my friends are able to embarrass me even when they don't know it!!!!!!!
Note to self: Don't offer to go get the pizza-it might embarrass you.
