So, the other night the kid's wanted pizza. We decided on Westside in Lynden. I offered to go get it while Gordon got the kids ready for the evening of pizza and movie watching. As I was approaching the stop light at Front and the Guide, I looked over by Westside pizza at the Chevron station, saw my friend Tarah standing outside her Ford Explorer playing with her beautiful long black hair while waiting for her tank to fill up. Her back was to me so I thought I would scare her by racing up behind her to say hi. I pulled in, squealed into the space behind her ready to honk my horn. She turned around with a "deer in the headlights" look on her face and I realized at that time it wasn't her. I scared the pee out of some innocent gal just because I thought it was Tarah. I was extremely embarrassed. I rolled down my window, told her I was sorry and that I thought she was someone else, then told her to have a great evening. Ugh!!! I hate it when my friends are able to embarrass me even when they don't know it!!!!!!!
Note to self: Don't offer to go get the pizza-it might embarrass you.

Rollerskating Princess
Yesterday was President's Day. The kids didn't have school, Gordon wasn't at work, and Grammy and Papa are here for a couple more days. We decided to go rollerskating in Lynden. Or should I say Gordon, Evan and Sierra rollerskated while Papa, Grammy and I sat out and watched. I love to rollerskate, but my legs and feet hurt from my workout that morning, so I decided not to skate. During general skate time, they always have a time for The Hokey Pokey, The Limbo, Boy's speed skating, Girl's speed skating, The Dice Game, and any other fun things to do on rollerskates.
Sierra decided to get in line for the Limbo. It started out with about 30-40 kids. By the time they were down to the last three rungs, it was only about 6 kids. Sierra went right thru and didn't touch the pole. All of the others knocked the pole down, so Sierra ended up winning. She got a "skate dollar" to spend at the store. I believe she ended up buying sour cherry candies and a grape flavored lip gloss. Here is her victory win!!!

Mickey....or Nim....or, yes, Mickey!
We adopted a cat from our great friend Diann. She had too many cats running around her house and asked if we wanted to take home "Fluffy" for the kids. I said yes, on a trial basis, knowing that my family has never been huge cat fans and I wasn't sure how the cat would do in our house. You see, we already have two outdoor cats, but Sierra really wanted an indoor cat. Someone she could sleep with, watch tv with, and play with. So, "Fluffy" came home with me.
He has turned out to be the BEST cat ever. Who knew?
We have gone thru a few names in trying to find the best name for him. "Fluffy" just didn't fit his personality. We tried out "Rocky", but we already have a goat with that name, so it didn't last either. We finally settled on "Mickey". I playfully call him "Mickey Mouse".
Gordon and Brad are early risers. They get up in the wee hours of the morning, so they spend a lot of play time with "Mickey". He is quite the character in the mornings. Gordon and Brad have lovingly given him the nickname "Nim" (as is Nimrod).
He is a great addition to our family and we have been having a lot of fun with him.

Busy-ness and saying goodbye
It has been crazy busy around here trying to get all the puppies ready to go to their new homes. Last week, we sent green ribbon girl (Blondie), to the airport to fly to her new home in Texas. That same day, Diann came and got her two puppies (purple ribbon girl and red ribbon boy). That left just 4. The next morning we headed off to Portland to deliver two more puppies to their new homes. Orange ribbon boy (Wrigley) went to our awesome friends Albert and Julie. We are going to show Wrigley and use him as a stud dog later on. He is absolutely gorgeous!!! Blue ribbon boy (Zues) went to Ty and Christina. We went to high school with Christina and her and Gordon reconnected through Facebook. She saw our puppies and decided she wanted one. So, they both went to Portland. We spent the weekend with family and had a mini-vacation from home and returned on Monday afternoon. Tomorrow, we are taking pink ribbon girl (Faith) to meet her new parents, Rick and JoAnn, at the Twassen ferry terminal. They actually live on Vancouver Island, but are taking the ferry across to meet us. That leaves yellow ribbon girl. She doesn't have a new family yet. We are in the process of finding someone who will love her forever. Know of anyone who wants a beautiful yellow lab girl to love?
With the puppies almost gone, it is now time to do a little spring cleaning around here. I think we might have to call in the big guns and rent a dumpster!!! My kids like to collect things. It is time to go through their bedrooms and throw away the broken things. Anybody wanna help?

Speaking of new kitties.........
So, we finally decided to get the kid's the inside cat they have wanted for awhile. Gordon and I have never been cat people. We have always loved our dogs. The two farm cats we have outside have proven to be the best cats ever. We just love them. They like to come in at night and snuggle on the dryer and sleep the night away, then go back outside for the day. Our new kitty is a hoot! If you walk by him, he swats at you and tries to get you to play. The minute you sit down anywhere, he is in your lap wanting some attention. He also likes to sit as close to the keyboard as possible when we are on the computer. He is a lot of fun.
But then.....Gordon came home from work the other morning and asked me why there was a kitten in the puppy kennel with the pups. I didn't know there was, so I went out for a look. Sure enough, there is a kitten that is hanging out with the puppies, cuddling up with them, playing with them. It won't let us get anywhere close to it. It hisses and then runs, but continues to stay in the general area of the puppy pen. So, I guess for now, we have a ferrel kitty that came out of nowhere that is hanging out for awhile. Who knows, maybe it will be a nice kitty and become a farm cat also.
NO, we are not changing into kitty people. We will ALWAYS be dog people, but we have room in our lives for a couple of cute cats!!

Evan and Sierra's new toy
Ok, not really a toy. This is Fluffy. He is a barn cat that was at my friend, Diann's. He came to live with us because he is such a loving cat and Diann just didn't have time for four cats. Fluffy is an indoor cat. He loves playing with the kids. His favorite past time right now is to hide under the bed or couch and attack your feet when you walk by. He is really fun and the kids are having a great time with him. The bonus for me....he came potty trained to a litter box. Yes!!!!

Annoying!!!!
So, today I am having a great hair day. I have been fighting with my hair for a long time now, and it actually looks great today. Problem is, Gordon is at work, Brad is at work, and the kids have school. There is no one here to share my great hair day with!!! What is up with that?!?!?!?
So, I decided before Evan and Sierra left for school, I would have Evan take a picture of my hair. Ok, don't look at me, just my hair. It's not like it is a great picture of me, but check out the hair!! Yeah!
Yes, I am a sad, weird gal who is enjoying her hair today. The things that make a person happy!! Jeesh.
